- What is the Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) grant?
The UISFL grant is funded program by the U.S. Department of Education. It has a focus on South Asia and is meant to expand and enhance our faculty learning community.
- How do I become a resident director in Madrid, Paris, or Bologna?
- Must speak the language fluently
- Three-year commitment, one year on site
- Salary paid for 2 months of summer; COLA
- Administrative/student affairs responsibilities
- Applications in November of the year before the year before the on-site year
- How do I participate in faculty exchange programs?
Bologna
- Call comes out twice a year, each for the following semester
- Two-week time in Bologna, lecturing
- Can invite a Unibo scholar here
- Host institution covers room, home institution covers airfare
- Unibo colleague does the application
- Arrange through your own connections (or we can help put you in touch with someone)
- Switch places with a faculty member in your same discipline for a year or semester
- Obviously must be approved by department, dean, etc.!

- What is the Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad Program?
The GPA Program provides grants to institutions and private, nonprofit education entities that organize programs for K–12 teachers, college students, and faculty to engage in short-term or long-term overseas projects focused on training, research, and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies. GPA short-term projects include seminars, curriculum development, and group research or study. GPA long-term projects support advanced intensive overseas programs that focus on languages, the humanities, or social sciences.
