“Development and Beyond: Renewing the Fabric of Hope”

This four-week intensive course will examine the challenges, in theory and on the ground, associated with the neoliberal development paradigm promoted by international organizations such as the World Bank and the IMF. The first week of the course will be spent in Middletown examining a critical history of contemporary Mexico and critiques of neoliberal capitalist globalization. The following three weeks will be spent conducting in-depth research while working with marginalized communities that are rejecting the neoliberal worldview.

2-credit course ~ $6900 (limited Financial Aid available)

Calder Classics offers intensive beginner and intermediate Latin and Greek summer programs in Italy and Greece for students of all ages.

Paideia Institute offers an intensive Latin experience in the city of Rome. For those with an intermediate or advanced background in Latin. 

Japanese Studies

Hokkaido International Foundation offers summer programs for Japanese language learners in Hokodate, Japan.

International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan offers summer courses in Japanese. 

Princeton in Ishikawa, Japan offers a Japanese language program.

Variety of Language Study

Critical Language Scholarships offer intensive summer language institutes overseas in thirteen critical-need foreign languages: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu

Harvard Summer Program in Calabria, Italy

An opportunity to master the Italian language in the heart of southern Italy.  The program includes six weeks in Reggio Calabria and two weeks in San Demetrio Corone.  Pre-requisite: students must have completed one year or one accelerated semester of college-level beginning Italian.
