    Associated Colleges in China Program (Beijing) 
    Fall, spring, or full year. Prerequisite: Chinese 104, minimal, or the equivalent. Students who have completed 104 only will be required to enroll in the summer program. This is an intensive language program hosted by Minzu University.

    CET Academic Program in China (Beijing or Harbin)
    Fall, spring, or full year. Prerequisite: Chinese 104 or the equivalent. This is an intensive language program designed for advanced or advanced-intermediate students with research interests in China, and allows for independent study. Applicants will meet with Professor Gong to determine which location best suits their language skills. 

    Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies (Beijing)
    Fall, spring, or full year.  Prerequisite: Chinese 218 or the equivalent and permission of College of East Asian Studies.  This is an intensive language program hosted by Tsinghua University.

    C.V. Starr - Middlebury School in China (Beijing, Hangzhou, and Kunming)
    Fall, spring, or full year.  Prerequisite: four semesters of college-level Chinese (five preferred). Applicants must complete successfully a Chinese language course during the semester of application. Language and content courses.

    Carleton Global Engagement (Burmese Vihar Monastery, Bodh Gaya)
    Fall only. Intensive program that focuses on Buddhism. Hindi or Tibetan language study, independent study, courses in religion, anthropology, Asian history. Especially strong for religion majors.

    Middlebury School in India  (Delhi) 
    Fall or Spring. Based at St. Stephen’s College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR), both part of the larger University of Delhi with offerings in the humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences. The language of instruction at the colleges is English. Participants required to study Hindi language.

  • Japan

    Associated Kyoto Program (Kyoto)(Wesleyan)
    Fall, Spring or Full year. Prerequisite: Japanese 104 or the equivalent, 3.0 GPA, plus one course about Japan. Language and area studies, homestay. Especially strong for students seeking instruction in ARHA, HIST. For details, see OSA staff or Naho Maruta. 

    IES - Nanzan University (Nagoya) 
    Fall or spring. Prerequisite: Japanese 104 or the equivalent. Course offerings include Japanese Language and Area Studies courses, Cultural/Studio Art courses, and Seminar courses. During the fall semester, certain additional Nanzan University classes are available to IES Abroad students. Homestay. Check out the catalog here

    International Christian University (Tokyo)
    Full year only. Prerequisite: Japanese 104 or the equivalent. Language, Japanese studies, social sciences. Restricted to students needing major courses not offered through AKP

    Kansai Gaidai University (Osaka)
    Fall, spring, or full year.  Prerequisite: Japanese 104 or the equivalent and 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to students with Japanese area studies coursework. Language courses in Japanese, area studies, social science, and humanities courses in English.

    Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies - KCJS (Columbia University)(Kyoto)
    Fall, spring, or full year.  Prerequisite: Japanese 206 or equivalent. Participants take two language courses and two discipline-based courses taught in English. 

    Japan Study at Waseda University (Tokyo) Early Deadline in January for both Spring and full-year applications  
    Spring (Feb-July) or full year (Sept-July). Prerequisite: Japanese 104 or equivalent. Language and area studies courses. Homestay. Especially strong for students seeking instruction in ANTH, ARHA, COMP, GOVT, Japanese Literature.

    Fall or spring. Language, area studies, independent study. Includes home stay, trek, group project.

  • South Korea

    Korea University: Exchange Program (Seoul)
    Fall, spring, or full year. Variety of classes (humanities and sciences) offered in English. Prerequisite: one year of college-level Korean or equivalent. Students must enroll in at least 5 courses to ensure 4 Wesleyan credits.

    CIEE - Yonsei University (Seoul)
    Fall, spring, or full year.  Language, and courses in humanities and social sciences.  Prerequisite: one year of college-level Korean or equivalent. Students must enroll in at least 5 courses to ensure 4 Wesleyan credits.

    Seoul National University: Exchange Program (Seoul)
    Applications are due the same day as the Wes Programs Abroad and Petition Programs.
    Fall, spring, and full year. This is a newly established (2018) exchange agreement between Wesleyan University and Seoul National University. The mission of SNU is to create a vibrant intellectual community where students and scholars join together in building the future. As Korea’s leading research university, Seoul National University is committed to diversifying its student body and faculty, fostering global exchange, and promoting path-breaking research in all fields of knowledge. Wesleyan students, as exchange students, will have the opportunity to apply for dormitory housing, but there is no guarantee that they will receive dormitory placement. Students should be prepared to live off-campus. Students must enroll in at least 5 courses to ensure 4 Wesleyan credits. Prerequisite: one year of college-level Korean or equivalent. Must have a GPA equal to or above 2.5 to apply.
