Advanced Placement Guidelines  

For Freshmen and New Students:

Students with an AP score of 4 or 5, an IB score of 6 or 7, or a grade of A on the Chemistry A-Levels, may receive chemistry credits toward graduation.

 To receive 1.00 credit:

Students must complete CHEM144 with a minimum grade of B-. No credit will be granted if the student has completed any of the following courses: CHEM141, CHEM142, or CHEM143. Pre-med/health studies, CHEM majors, and MB&B majors: Students who choose this option must also take the CHEM152 laboratory course.

 To receive 2.00 credits:

Students must complete CHEM251 with a minimum grade of B-. No credit will be granted if the student has completed any of the following courses: CHEM141, CHEM142, CHEM143, or CHEM144. Pre-med/health studies and CHEM majors: Students who choose this option do not take the CHEM152 laboratory course; these students should enroll directly into CHEM257.
