Course Modules

Justice and the Environment

In the Fall of 2012, dance artist Jill Sigman conducted a movement module in a course called "ENVS/PHIL 273: Justice and the Environment." Taught by Lori Gruen, Professor of Philosophy, Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Environmental Studies, the class deals with the environmental problems that disproportionately burden certain groups by examining competing conceptions of justice and exploring the intersectional injustices posed by environmental issues. Sigman and students explored these dynamics physically in order to better understand environmental, gender, and climate justice on a larger, more conceptual scale.
