Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research at Wesleyan
Wesleyan University is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in the conduct of scientific research. To promote responsible research involving human embryonic stem cells (hES cells), Wesleyan has convened an Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight (ESCRO) Committee. The ESCRO committee, in accordance with National Academy of Science 2005 recommendations, will provide institutional oversight for all issues related to the derivation and research uses of hES cells and facilitate education of investigators involved in hES cell research. Investigators must adhere to all relevant institutional, local, and federal regulations and policies governing their research. The ESCRO committee is an additional level of review for investigators using hES cells.
