Cleanliness

The University is following federal and state guidelines for personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning/disinfecting protocols. Employees are responsible for cleaning their own workstations and shared equipment. Wesleyan is providing approved cleaning products for this purpose. Our janitorial crew will clean individual workstations only upon request during the pandemic, and will engage in increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection of high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, elevators, light switches, handrails, and stairwells to comply with CDC and State of Connecticut guidelines.

In addition, the University:

  • has adjusted janitorial staffing levels to accommodate new cleaning requirements;
  • is disinfecting high-touch surfaces in classrooms between classes;
  • has increased the number of hand-sanitizing stations throughout campus, as well as hand sanitizers for offices and shared spaces; and
  • has provided cleaning supplies for faculty, staff, and students to disinfect personal items including computers, phones, workstations, and electronic devices.

Wesleyan is following federal and state guidelines and standards for indoor air quality. We have increased the ventilation rates of fresh air intake and reset air handlers to 24/7 operation. In buildings with natural ventilation, the fresh air is achieved by opening windows for increased ventilation.

In addition, the University:

  • has purchased PPE for distribution to faculty, staff, and students as recommended by the CDC and required by the state; and 
  • is providing washable face coverings, surgical masks, N95 masks, and KN95 masks as required for certain jobs.
