In this session, we will also discuss ways to reduce waste and opportunities for composting on campus and the new concept of “zero waste.”

  • Get Your Office Green Office Certified

The Sustainability Office launched a Green Office Certification Program in 2018 and would love to have your office be the latest to join the 11 completed/in progress Green Offices on campus.  Wesleyan's Green Office Certification Program is designed to recognize, support, and promote offices and departments that engage in environmentally sustainable practices.  All administrative offices and academic departments are eligible to become Green Office Certified.

In this training, you’ll learn what the program is and what the process looks like to get your office certified.  We’ll also cover potential challenges, like getting buy-in (and what to do if you’re the only one interested in your office).  By the end of the workshop, you’ll be ready to get started!  Participating in this workshop is worth one innovation point on your office’s Green Office Certification (max 1 point per office).  You can learn more about the program ahead of time at wesleyan.edu/sustainability/involved/engagement/green-office.html

  • Alternative Ways to Get to Work

Larry Laconi of CTrides (a program of CT DOT) will lead this workshop to familiarize Wesleyan employees with the myriad options for commuting to Wesleyan, including bus (Middletown Area Transit local routes, M-Link to Meriden, Hartford Line), carpool, and vanpool.  In this session, you will learn how to take the bus (it’s not as overwhelming as you might think), how to use rideshare apps to find carpool matches, and how your health and happiness can benefit.
