Welcome to Wes! When you arrive on campus, our Orientation Program will help you begin your exploration of the range of academic and co-curricular opportunities available at Wesleyan. Until then, this web site should answer many of your questions and link you to many resources that will assist you in preparation for your first semester at Wes.  Mark your calendars:

International Student Arrival Day:  Sunday, August 26, 2018 (Families depart Monday, August 27 - 8pm)

Domestic Student Arrival Day: Wednesday, August 29, 2018 (Families depart on this day - 4:45pm)

  • Orientation Schedule

    The Orientation schedule and resources are available via Guidebook: mobile - desktop. There will NOT be printed handbooks.  If you do not have access to a smart device, computer or tablet, contact orientation@wesleyan.edu to discuss alternatives.

    Once you download the app onto your mobile device, note that there is no passphrase.  Simply click on the magnifying glass, search "Wesleyan New Student Orientation 2018" then click Guides.

    Please feel free to browse, explore and of course send us any feedback you think could make the app better for the Orientation experience.  Note that the Orientation Schedule is subject to change.  Always check Guidebook for the most up to date information prior to attending an event.

  • Arrival Day

    Information concerning the day entering first-year and transfer students (and their families) arrive on campus. Topics include the logistics of moving in as well as the different panels and talks offered. More information will be posted here in August.

  • Orientation Summer Interns

    Summer interns are the Wesleyan students who work alongside the professional staff in planning and implementing all aspects of New Student Orientation. They are a peer-to-peer point of contact for all new Wesleyan students over the summer and look forward to helping each new student and their families with their transition to Wesleyan.   • First Year Matters (FYM)

    Wesleyan's First Year Matters program engages new students in meaningful dialogue through a common reading.  This shared experience serves as an introduction to intellectual life a Wesleyan through lectures, group conversations, and an address by the author followed by a Q&A.  All new students are required to provide a written response over the summer as well as participate in sustained dialogues throughout the first semester.  A letter from Michael Whaley, Vice President of Student Affairs, and Joyce Jacobsen, Vice President of Academic Affairs, regarding the book selection and the FYM program for the class of 2022 is available here.
  • International Students Orientation (ISO)

    A pre-orientation for entering international students that offers sessions addressing health and medical insurance issues, programs about cultural adaptation, weather adjustment, and liberal arts education, as well as informational sessions about U.S. systems that many international students may not be familiar with or that are very different from their home country.   • First Things First (FTF)

    A pre-orientation for first-generation and/or low-income students designed to build community and introduce participants to the campus and its resources.
