Subject: Incident at Lo-Rise

Dear Wesleyan Community:

I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred on campus at 6:16 p.m.   A Wesleyan student was at the low-rise residence hall and called Public Safety to report he was injured by a projectile believed to have been fired by a BB gun.

The student received minor injuries to his arm.  Public Safety and Middletown Police responded immediately and determined a BB gun was fired from a non-campus residence adjoining Wesleyan property.

Within 15 minutes of police arrival three juveniles were detained and questioned.  As of the time of this notice, the suspect who fired the BB gun has been identified and is in police custody.

Police describe this as an isolated incident and indicate there is no ongoing threat to the Wesleyan community or general public.

Due to the ages of the suspects involved, additional information regarding this matter cannot be released at this time.

Sincerely,

Scott W Rohde

Director

Wesleyan Office of Public Safety
