Subject: Campus safety announcement
The Dean of Students Office and the Office of Public Safety would like to remind all students to not leave your belongings unattended and to contact public safety if you see suspicious or concerning activity. This past weekend there were a few incidents on campus that should remind us all to take steps to protect our safety and the safety of our community. One incident on September 22, early Sunday morning, involved a group of non-Wesleyan teenagers near the intersection of Church and High Street who verbally harassed and then hit the Wesleyan student in the back. The Wesleyan student reported the incident to public safety. Additionally, there were at least three laptops as well as other electronics and personal items stolen from three different unsecured residences on Fountain Avenue over the weekend.
Please remember to secure your residence at all times. Even when in your space, make certain to utilize window locks and keep screens in place. If you are missing a window screen, you should report it to work-order immediately so it can be replaced. Please remember to:
- lock your doors and windows
- remove your keys from your lock (don’t leave your keys in your door!)
- pay attention to your belongings and don’t leave coats and bags unattended or unsecured
- report suspicious persons or activities to Public Safety immediately at 685-2345 or 685-3333.
Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe and please contact us with any questions.
