Green Dorm Certification Program

Wesleyan's Green Dorm Certification Program is designed to recognize, support, and promote dorm rooms, Program Houses, and Woodframes that engage in environmentally sustainable practices. All dorm rooms, apartments, Program Houses, and Woodframes are eligible to become Green Office Certified.

  • Why join the program?

The Green Dorm Certification Program provides the following benefits to your dorm room/Program House/Woodframe:

    • Recognition: Your room or house will receive a Green Dorm Certificate that you can display on your door.  You will also be recognized on the Wesleyan Sustainability Office's website.
    • Support: The Sustainability Office will help you through the process of greening your dorm or house, offering tips and help for you to achieve your goals.
    • Stewardship: Your efforts help Wesleyan to reduce resource consumption and build a sustainable campus culture.
  • How to join the program?

Fill out the Green Dorm Certification Survey, which assesses how sustainable your current living practices are while providing tips to "green" your dorm or house.

If you live in an apartment, Woodframe, or Program House, consider encouraging your roommates to participate as well, or even participate together on behalf of your entire house.

  • Get Recognized

After filling out the survey, the Sustainability Office will review your responses and award you with a certificate. Place this certificate on your door to show how sustainable you are.

If you received a bronze or silver level award, consider assessing what else in your room or daily living habits you can make more sustainable, and fill out the survey again to reach gold level.
