Eco Facilitators Program
Description
Eco Facilitators (EFs) are a group of 9-16 students with a range of interests and backgrounds who build their own skills to provide students with the tools, education, and encouragement necessary to develop sustainable living practices, as well to encourage a sense of environmental consciousness and social responsibility, regardless of prior sustainability knowledge.
In this three-semester program, EFs first enroll in a semester-long student forum focused on learning about sustainability at Wesleyan, connecting environmental issues on campus to broader social injustices, and developing effective strategies to encourage sustainable practices. the following school year, EFs are paid to apply their ideas in dorms and across campus and to manage compost and other physical tasks in their assigned dorm. Working as an Eco Facilitator is a great opportunity to gain leadership skills and take part in building a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive campus community.
