Submission Guidelines

Nonfiction Submissions

We are currently accepting proposals for books in the areas of dance, poetry, and literature and literary studies.

The Music/Culture series is currently full. We will resume receipt of new proposals on June 1, 2018.

Your proposal should include a cover letter, a prospectus, and a C.V. If available, please also send us:

  • a table of contents;
  • a sample chapter or two;
  • the anticipated length of the manuscript;
  • the anticipated date of completion (if still a work-in-progress);
  • anticipated market for your book.

We request that you do not submit your complete manuscript unless an editor has invited you to do so. The equivalent of a cover letter may be submitted by e-mail/attachment, but please do not submit full proposals electronically, unless asked to do so.

Please send all proposals to:

About the Submissions Process

Please allow two months for an initial decision to be made on any proposal.

Ultimate approval for publication rests solely with the press staff and editorial board. The press encourages submissions from Wesleyan University faculty. However, the editorial board operates separately and independently from the university bodies generating tenure and other promotions.
