Summer and Winter Sessions

Wesleyan gives students scheduling flexibility by offering full-semester credit courses on an intensive, compressed timeframe during the summer and winter. Summer Session courses are completed in just over 4 weeks, while Winter Session classes—which require some advanced reading and preparation—are completed in 2 weeks during the winter break.
Summer Sessions
Summer Session courses enable students to earn credit for a semester-long course in just over 4 weeks. These courses are offered in two consecutive 4-week sessions primarily during June and July. Classes may take place on-campus or online. All classes have limited enrollment, preserving the small seminar style and creating opportunities for closer relationships with fellow students and faculty.
Summer Session courses are offered in writing, literature, government, biology, data analysis, and more. The full course schedule is posted in March.
Winter Sessions
Winter Session courses may take place on-campus or online, and a maximum of 1 credit equivalent to a full-semester class may be earned. Students complete reading and writing assignments before the classes begin. Classes meet on a compressed schedule in January for the duration of Winter Session.
Class sizes are small with a concentrated focus, creating opportunities for closer relationships with fellow students and faculty.
Winter Session courses are offered in Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Math.
