Across the Wesleyan curriculum, from the humanities to the sciences, you will find courses emphasizing writing. Many of these courses emphasize critical writing that is central to students' academic work. Other courses offer you the chance to explore writing for general readers or to try creative exercises. The English Department's major program includes a concentration in creative writing. Creative writing has long been an important component of the College of Letters curriculum, with entry level and advanced courses offered. The university's writing courses also include the Koeppel Journalism seminar, science writing seminars, translation courses, and writing about film and the arts. The Writing Certificate, essentially a minor in writing, is open to students in any major.
