Application Process

All first-year applicants must apply by submitting a Common Application or Apply Coalition, Powered by Scoir.

Admission Standards

Students eligible for admission must have a high school diploma (or its recognized equivalent) or be beyond the age of compulsory school attendance (17) and meet the criteria for homeschooled students.

The following are recognized as the equivalent of a high school diploma:

  • A GED certificate
  • A state certificate awarded after passing an authorized test and that the state recognizes as equivalent to a high school diploma
  • An academic transcript showing that the student has successfully completed at least a two-year program that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor's degree

Application Process

Both Regular Decision applications and Early Decision applications include the following:

1  First-Year Application & Personal Essay

Completed Common Application or Apply Coalition, Powered by Scoir, including Wesleyan’s member-specific questions.

2  Secondary School Report Form & Transcript

Your school counselor should submit a secondary school report along with an official transcript (including courses in progress) and school profile.

Homeschool Supplement (if applicable: only available on Common Application site)

Wesleyan encourages applicants to request that school forms be filed electronically via the Common Application website.

3  Counselor Recommendation

Your school counselor should submit a written evaluation.

4  Mid-year Grade Report

Your school counselor should submit your midyear grades when available (end of first semester or second trimester).

5  Teacher Evaluation Forms

Two academic teacher evaluations are required. You are encouraged to submit one from a humanities or social sciences teacher and one from a math or science teacher.  

Wesleyan encourages applicants to request that teacher evaluations be filed electronically via the Common Application website.

6  Early Decision Agreement

The Early Decision Agreement form is available for download, but it is also provided as part of the Common Application.

(Early Decision applicants ONLY)

7  Application Fee

$65 Application Fee (non-refundable) or Fee Waiver. We will waive the application fee for all applicants who apply for financial aid. Receiving this fee waiver will not disadvantage an applicant in any way.

8  Track Your Application Materials

After you have submitted your application you will receive an email with a PIN which will enable you to access WesCheck, your applicant portal, to track your application materials.

Optional Application Materials

  1. Standardized Testing—Wesleyan does not require most students to submit SAT or ACT scores as part of the application for admission. Students can decide for themselves whether or not their scores reflect their ability and if they would like their test scores to be weighted alongside their day-to-day work in secondary school.

  2. Supplemental Materials—Applicants may submit supporting materials in music, theatre, visual arts, film, and dance that reflect an education goals in these areas. All supplementary materials must be submitted through SlideRoom, which can be accessed through the Common Application.

Online Decision Notification

See table above for online decision notification dates for all admission programs. Application decisions will be available through WesCheck, the applicant portal. Applicants will receive a status update email to check their Wesleyan Admission Portal after online decisions are officially released.

Related materials will be mailed to students who are admitted.

For those students who are offered a place on the waitlistdeferred or denied, letters will be available online only.

The Wesleyan enrollment deposit is $250.00 and is payable electronically.  Note: the deposit is non-refundable.

 

Financial Aid for First Year Students

For each student who is selected for admission, Wesleyan is committed to providing the full amount of financial aid they are qualified to receive based on our determination of financial need. The commitment to meet a student’s full need extends to every year of enrollment.

U.S. citizen students who indicate on their application that they will NOT apply for financial aid and who are admitted may not apply for Wesleyan financial aid for two (2) semesters.

International students who indicate on their application that they will NOT apply for financial aid and who are admitted will not have any opportunity to apply after matriculation.
