A new iteration of Lotto Royale is being produced by John Hoobyar for the forthcoming “River To River Festival” through the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

All are welcome. No experience is necessary. Sign-up is required by going to this form or emailing Joshua Lubin-Levy at jlubinlevy@wesleyan.edu. The workshop is from 4pm to 7pm.

A Short History of Lotto Royale
In 2021, The Club for Performance Art Gallery organized a one-day program of one-on-one performances by 30 artists at Dock 11 in Prenzlauer Berg in collaboration with the collective T.E.N.T. The program featured a lottery system for pairing individual audience members with individual performers. While the 30 artists performed with one audience member at a time, the members of T.E.N.T. activated the spaces at Dock 11 with pop-up performances and music by sound artists and DJs. Working at the limits of intimacy, public gathering, and towards a new relationship between performer and audience in the era of Covid-19, The Club and T.E.N.T. have since replicated this activation of public space at Fortuna, a former casino converted into an arts space in Neukölln, and in Buenos Aires. A short trailer featuring these earlier iterations can be viewed below or at https://vimeo.com/749142937.
