REMEMBERING: Solo Piano Recital by Carolyn Halsted

Program will include Ferruccio Busoni's piano transcription of Johann Sebastian Bach's Chaconne from the Partita in d minor for solo violin, BWV 1004; Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 30 in E Major, Op. 109; and several of Piano Instructor Carolyn Halsted's own recently composed works in memory of her father.

Carolyn Halsted performs frequently as soloist and collaborative artist, playing with members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, CONCORA (Connecticut Choral Artists), and faculty and students at Wesleyan University. She is a very dedicated piano teacher both at Wesleyan and privately, and has composed numerous piano, vocal, and choral works. She also enjoys playing for ballet classes at Wesleyan, and occasionally serving as guest musician at various churches in Connecticut. She holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music (music history and piano performance), and Wesleyan (world music, including South Indian music and piano).
