A talk by Zamansele Nsele, Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary African and African Diasporic Art at the University of California at Berkeley, “Framing Afrophobia as the ‘Swart Gevaar’s’ Doppelgänger in Gerald Machona’s Afrofuturistic Vabvakure (People from far away).”

Nsele is the co-editor of the book "The Imagine New (or, What Happens When History is a Catastrophe?) Working through Alternative Archives: Art, History, Africa and the African Diaspora." She has teaching and interdisciplinary
research interests in critical theories of Blackness in visual art and literature. Nsele is currently working on a book monograph that explores the visual art and cultures of nostalgia during periods of nation building.
