AP/IB/A-Level Guidelines  

For Freshmen and New Students:

Students with an AP score of 4 or 5, an IB Higher Level score of 5 or 6 or 7, or a grade of A on the Chemistry A-Levels, may receive chemistry credits toward graduation.

To receive 1.00 credit:

Students who place directly into CHEM144 and complete the course with a B- or better can apply for one AP credit. Pre-med/health studies, CHEM majors/minors, and MB&B majors: Students who choose this option must also take the CHEM152 laboratory course.

To receive 2.00 credits:

Students who place directly into CHEM251 and complete the course with a B- or better can apply for two AP credits. Pre-med/health studies and CHEM majors/minors: Students who choose this option do not take the CHEM152 laboratory course; these students should enroll directly into CHEM257.  MB&B majors: Students who choose this option must take either CHEM257 or CHEM152 as a major requirement.
