South Asian Research Opportunities Summer Program

  • Eligibility

    Students selected as South Asian Scholars must be academically interested in studying in South Asia.  A selection committee scores applications to evaluate the depth of scientific knowledge and interest in performing research in South Asia. We anticipate selecting three South Asian Scholars this year.

    Students applying must:

    • be in their sophomore or junior year
    • have earned and maintain at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA (Wesleyan equivalent 85.0/100)
    • major in Natural Sciences or Mathematics or COE
    • be willing to commit to the entire Research in South Asia program, including working full time for 10 weeks
  • Mentors

    We can help identify a mentor for those who don't already have one; the instritution we will work with is:

    India Institute of Technology, Delhi

  • Housing

    Housing, orientation, emergency services, and a few activities will be arranged and students will pay from their stipend.

  • Application

    Online Application 

    The  application package must include:

    • a resume indicating previous research experience and interests
    • a personal statement describing career goals and expectations regarding the program
    • name of a possible mentor in South Asia or list areas of research interests
    • two letters of recommendation (including one from a Wesleyan faculty member)
    • the student's academic transcript
    • citizenship and passport details

    Admissions are managed by the College of Integrative Sciences Director.
