Violence in the Workplace

Wesleyan University is committed to creating and maintaining an environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive for learning and working. The University expressly forbids and will not tolerate or condone any conduct that threatens, intimidates, or coerces other employees, students, customers, vendors, or any member of the public at any time.

All threats or actual incidences of violence, both direct and indirect, should be reported immediately to Public Safety. This includes threats by employees, students, customers, vendors, solicitors, or other members of the public. When reporting a threat of violence, it is important to be as specific and detailed as possible.

All suspicious individuals or activities should be reported immediately by calling Public Safety. Anyone determined to be responsible for threats or actual incidences of violence or other conduct that is in violation of this policy will be subject to prompt disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
