A Message of Support: Navigating Global Crises as a Wesleyan International Student

The full-time professional staff of the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) are dedicated to supporting Wesleyan’s extraordinary and diverse international student community that represents more than 60 countries around the globe. Our hearts are heavied by the many major crises that have emerged in recent months and persist in different nations and regions of the world. They have taken so many innocent lives and profoundly impacted people on the ground in those places as well as members of our campus community with ties to the affected areas.

These humanitarian crises range from wars and conflicts to natural disasters to other complex emergencies caused by both manmade and natural factors. Some resources for learning about these current crises include the Council on Foreign Relations’ Global Conflict Tracker and the NASA Disasters Mapping Portal.

If you are a Wesleyan international student who has been impacted by a global crisis, or a current event in the U.S., the University has people and resources dedicated to supporting you in your time of need. Some of these offices include Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL), the Dean of Students Office, and our team at the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA).

Our office in Fisk Hall, Room 105 is a safe space for you where you are always welcome to come and speak with members of our staff about any issue that is affecting you without fear of judgment. We care about you and your well-being and are committed to doing our best to support you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us and share your concerns.
