Weekly Events - Spring 2023

Tuesday

Sitting and Walking Meditation

4:00 - 5:00 pm | ORSL Lounge (169 High st, Second floor)

Come practice unlearning, letting go and simply being your most authentic self. The Small Forest Temple Sitting and Walking Meditation session will consist of 20 minutes of sitting, 10 minutes of walking, 20 minutes of sitting and then a little time for questions and discussion. There will be instruction at the beginning, and silence during the sitting and walking.  This traditional practice follows in the Chan lineage (the marriage of Buddhism and Taoism). Please contact Scott Kessel at skessel@wesleyan.edu if you have any questions!  Wear clothing that is comfortable to sit and move in.

Tai Chi

5:00 - 6:00 pm | ORSL Lounge (169 High st, Second floor)

Come practice moving with a quiet mind - practice bringing your clear mind off your cushion and into your moment to moment daily life.  Each week, the Small Forest Temple Tai Chi session will consist of 10 minutes of sitting, 15-20 minutes of warm ups/stretches and 30-35 minutes of learning the Shaolin Chuan Tai Chi form. There will be instruction throughout the session, and each week will build upon the last. It is best if you can come consistently, but feel free to drop in and check it out anytime as well. Please contact Scott Kessel at skessel@wesleyan.edu if you have any questions!  Wear clothing that is comfortable to sit and move in.

Wednesday

Vinyasa Yoga with Grace

6:00 - 7:00 pm | Fayerweather 108

Join us for an all-levels vinyasa flow! Vinyasa yoga is about linking the breath to movement. Through yoga, we build a relationship with our bodies and learn to listen to and give them what they need. In our practice, we will take the muscles and joints in the body through their full range of motion, creating space in the body and the mind. You will leave class feeling open, calm, grounded, and connected. Wear comfortable clothes you can move and flow in and bring water, a yoga mat, and friends! If you don’t have a mat, there are a few extras you can borrow. Please contact Olivia Miller at ormiller@wesleyan.edu if you have any questions.

Yoga with Julie

5:30 - 6:30 pm | ORSL lounge

We tend to think of yoga as a purely physical experience, but in reality, yoga is a practice of uniting the body, mind, and soul. In this all-levels vinyasa class, we will link breath with movement in energizing, balancing, and joyful flows! Using a variety of mantras, breathwork (pranayama) and poses (asanas), you will leave each class with more body awareness and a quieter mind.
Please come prepared with comfy clothing you can move around in, water, a mat if you have one, and an open mind :)
Don’t hesitate to reach out to Julie Wise jwise@wesleyan.edu with any questions, comments, or concerns. Peace and blessings 💟☮️
