and complete the petion form.
Dear Wesleyan Parent(s) or Guardian(s):
The University requires all students to maintain health insurance that is comparable to the university-sponsored plan. Every year, a few students have not been allowed to register or have been billed for unnecessary insurance because they did not complete the required online forms and thus experienced needless frustration. Please complete the necessary online forms as soon as possible even if your insurance has not changed since last year.
The Health Center now files claims for visits and services provided at the Health Center directly to private insurance as we do for students with the university-sponsored plan. HMO plans, out of state Medicaid plans and international plans not based in the United States are NOT considered comparable coverage. Students with these plans must enroll in the university-sponsored plan as the Health Center cannot accept these plans for reimbursement. Please review the enclosed benefit highlights flyer for more specific details about the university-sponsored plan, which is underwritten by Aetna. There is also a “FAQ” section provided at the website below.
If you have comparable private insurance for your student and do not want the university-sponsored plan, please show proof of insurance (waive) online at www.gallagherstudent.com/wesleyan. Please remember to print a copy of the confirmation page you receive once you have waived online as this will be required for all billing inquiries.
If you do not have comparable private insurance for your student, you MUST ENROLL online in the university-sponsored plan at www.gallagherstudent.com/wesleyan. Your students account will be billed $1,498 for the annual insurance plan in mid-September; please do not send payment now. Students who are studying abroad during the fall semester are eligible to purchase the annual plan and are the only students who can opt to purchase a fall-only plan.
Wesleyan University will continue to offer low cost student loans to most students who need assistance covering the cost of the health insurance policy. Grant aid assistance will be limited. Please review the financial aid award letter for specific eligibility. Financial aid adjustments will not occur until that start of the semester.
A hold may be placed on class registration for failure to show proof of private insurance or enroll in the plan by August 15.
Thank you for your prompt attention. Remember, proof of private insurance (waive) or online enrollment at www.gallagherstudent.com/wesleyan is required by August 15, 2014.
