Anisha Gupta

Anisha Gupta, received her BS. Pharm and MS. Pharm while doing polymeric drug delivery research at Punjabi University, India. She then taught Chemistry and Biochemistry courses as a Lecturer at two different private Universities in India. She then joined the Chemistry Department at Carnegie Mellon University and earned her PhD under Prof. Bruce A Armitage. A Gupta’s graduate research work at the interface of chemistry and biology was based on designing therapeutic peptide nucleic acids targeting cancer causing genes for various antisense and antigene applications. During her postdoctoral studies in the Departments of Therapeutic Radiology and Biomedical Engineering  at Yale, she worked with Prof. Peter M Glazer and Prof. Mark Saltzman on developing nucleic acid based therapies and drug delivery vehicles for gene editing of Cystic Fibrosis disease and for targeting oncogenic miRNAs. Outside of the laboratory, as a teaching fellow, she also taught a Foundations in Cell Biology Course to undergraduates in the department of MCDB at Yale. She also taught a general chemistry lab course as an adjunct professor in Southern CT state University.  At Wesleyan, she is excited to bring the spirit of her interdisciplinary research and diverse teaching experiences to contribute to the curricula of general and organic chemistry laboratory courses  by using a variety of laboratory instruction styles ranging from inquiry based, discovery based to problem based learning.
