John F. Carr

John Carr was the Lighting Designer for the Wesleyan Theater Department and the Dance Department from 1984 to 2014 and is a past Theater Department Chair. He has designed dance lighting for Susan Foster, Douglas Dunn, Deborah Hay, Richard Bull,Dances for 2, Patricia Beaman and most recently, the premiere of the Hari Krishnan/InDance production of HOLY COW(S)! In Toronto. Theater projects include lighting for The Hartford Stage Company, The Folger Theatre, National Players, The Shubert Theater, and SKIN, MEAT, BONE, by Robert Wilson and Alvin Lucier. Other projects include  the lighting for DEATH AND THE MAIDEN at The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich, U.K., coordinating the production and designing the lighting for the Department's sold out performance of MASTER PETER at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and designing the Lighting for CRIME AND PUNISHMENT and BURY ME UNDER THE BASEBOARD, both directed by former Wesleyan Theater Professor Yuri Kordonsky at the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest, Romania. He also designed the scenery for the Department's productions of EURYDICE and THE SKRIKER. His most recent Wesleyan project was the design of scenery and lighting for Wesleyan's 2015 production of THE BALD SOPRANO. He retired from full time teaching at the end of the fall'14 semester.
