Social Meetups Week
This February, during Wesleyan Engagement Month, Wesleyan alumni volunteers are hosting Social Meetups across the United States in nearly 30 states, and internationally in London, Paris, Milan, and elsewhere!
With more than 85 meetups taking place from January 31–February 8 ranging from happy hours, potlucks, dance lessons, wine tastings, museum tours, Shabbat dinners, hikes, music circles, Lunar New Year celebrations, and more, there’s a meetup for everyone.

Wesleyan Social Meetup: Bay Area Salsa Dance Lesson & Gathering

Visit JAWS: THE EXHIBITION at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, curated by Jenny He '02. We'll tour the museum together or in small groups. Then, we can go grab a coffee or another beverage at Fanny's Market Cafe, the museum's restaurant, and meet at the museum's outdoor Walt Disney Company Piazza to connect with fellow alumni.

Wesleyan Social Meetup: Novato Waterfall Walk and Group MealSunday, February 8

Meetup with Wes alums for a short hike. We will meet at the trailhead at the end of Fairway Drive and then walk about 3/4 mile into the open space that starts there and winds up a stream into a small wooded valley. A small waterfall spilling from about 15 feet above the stream bed where our trail end is guaranteed; if we get good rains in the weeks before our event, the waterfall can be quite impressive. Wear rubber sole shoes that you will feel comfortable getting a little wet. After our walk, we will walk to the host's home just 2 blocks away and enjoy a variety of light food and drinks.

Informal exploration of the Oakland Museum (OMCA). We'll start with informal networking and a casual lunch at the museum's cafe, then head into the galleries for a self-paced visit. We'll wrap up with a return to the cafe for a snack, drinks, and farewells. OMCA houses the legendary 'All of Us or None' political poster collection, donated by longtime Bay Area activist Michael Rossman. Rossman's gift to OMCA includes thousands of political and social-justice posters spanning decades of Bay Area and national activism. These works offer a vivid lens into protest culture, free-speech movements, community organizing, and the visual language of political resistance, themes close to the heart of the Wesleyan community.

Calling all Wesleyan oenophiles (and oenophile-curious): join fellow alums for a no-host happy hour at The Old Portland Wine Bar, a hidden corner of Portland (and unofficial front porch to The Dandy Warhols' recording studio) where vintage French wine meets rock-and-roll history. With just three choices (red, white, or bubbles), the focus is on savoring beautifully aged pours and fantastic company. And if the stars align, we may even get a brief wander through the band's recording space, secret performance venue, and the sets from their classic music videos. The vibe couldn't be more eclectic: punk artifacts, wood paneling, and architectural details salvaged from now-shuttered Portland hotspots. The company: all Wes, so expect conversation that's lively, surprising, and weird in the best way.

Even while battling armored nurses, a wild ostrich, strange prophecies, and the ailing bodies, they find joy in each other's company. Princeton, NJWesleyan Alumni are invited for a tour of the galleries of American art at the recently re-opened Princeton University Art Museum led by Karl Kusserow '86, the museum's John Wilmerding Senior Curator of American Art. The new installation reimagines Princeton's collection of historic American art in light of the current thinking about gender, race, and the environment, while substantially expanding the number and scope of works on view. Following the tour, we can continue the conversation at a nearby restaurant for self-hosted drinks and nibbles. The Princeton University Art Museum is free for all.
