Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happened to Saturn, Neptune and Venus?
There are three instances or copies of the Millennium database - Production, Copy, and Test. Typically, the Saturn server points to the Production instance, the Neptune server to the Copy instance, and the Venus server to the Test instance. As upgrades are applied to the hardware and software which drives Millennium, a server's role may need to change. To make these changes as transparent as possible, using the links provided above will always take you to the correct server for the instance you want to access. No need to remember which planet to visit!
  • Did the location of documents change?
No, the Millennium documents still reside on Saturn, and you can continue using \\saturn\docs as a shortcut.
  • When should I use Copy or Test, as opposed to Production?
In most cases, Production is the way to go. This is the live data that you use everyday. The Copy instance is just that - a copy of the Production instance as of the last Sunday morning. You can use Copy to try out a particularly tricky gift entry, before entering it into Production. The Test instance should only be used at the discretion of ITS; the data there is not guaranteed to be recent or accurate.
