Inn at Middletown

Inn at Middletown, located at 70 Main St.

Due to the very small number of students who plan to study abroad this fall, the university has contracted with the Inn at Middletown to be used solely to house Wesleyan students next semester. The Inn is located 3 blocks away from campus, next door to Mondo Pizza, and in close proximity to Middletown’s wide variety of restaurants.

It is anticipated that there will be enough space for everyone to return to campus in the spring. Additional information regarding spring 2022 housing will be shared with students in October, 2021.

Staffing

Five RAs will be living among, and sponsoring programs, for the community of 174 students.

Common Space

Students will have access to two large meeting rooms that have been converted into comfortable social and study lounges.

Students are welcome to use the on-site fitness center from 7:00 AM – 10 PM daily.

Microwaves will be available in the common space for students to access.

Safety & Security

In addition to the 5 RAs who will rotate being on duty every night, The Inn will continue to staff the front desk 24/7.   Students can only enter with their key card and guests will be signed in by residents.  The Inn also has several cameras throughout the property.

Housekeeping & Maintenance

Housekeeping services (clean bathrooms, vacuum, empty garbage) will be provided once a week.  The schedule will be shared with students upon arrival.

The Inn will notify students 24 hours in advance before accessing a room for routine maintenance.

Dining

Students may use their meal plan on campus or at the Inn (or the full information we had on our website:  In addition to the usual meal options on campus, Bon Appetit will be providing continental breakfast and a variety of selections for dinner, ordered off a menu at the table, in the Tavern Restaurant at the Inn. Friends are welcome to join residents for meals at the Inn, using their dining plan.

Alcohol/Substance Use

No alcohol is permitted in the Inn, including student rooms, even if the person is of legal age.

Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Inn, including student rooms.  A fee of $250 will be charged by The Inn for violations of this policy, and students will be referred to the Community Standards Board.

Shuttle Service & Parking

The regular morning shuttle will run from 7: 15 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.  The route includes several scheduled stops including the Inn.  It is anticipated the shuttle bus will be at each stop about every 11 to 14 minutes during this time frame.  A similar shuttle will run in the late afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. the Wesleyan RIDE (campus safe ride) will operate and will include regular stops at the Inn.  That service runs until late night, typically until 3:00 a.m. and operates seven days a week.

Free parking is available at the Inn. Students must take care to only park in spaces designated for guests of The Inn.  Students who plan to drive to campus should register their cars at Public Safety.

Laundry

Free laundry is available on campus at 1 Vine and 253 Pine.  Students may also request access to the laundry facilities in High Rise by emailing reslife@wesleyan.edu.

Student Rooms

Rooms in the Inn are either one room or two room doubles, with a limited number of single rooms available. All rooms have a private bathroom, television, and mini refrigerator. Beds are queen or king size, except for the two room doubles which feature one king and one full size bed.

Students con not use tacks, nails, staples or other tools that will damage the walls for decorating their rooms.

Linens

One set of sheets will be provided by The Inn for the king and queen size beds, to be returned to the Inn at the end of the semester. Students need to provide their own bedding for full-sized beds. In all spaces, students need to provide their own blanket(s), quilt(s), pillow(s), and towel(s).
