Course nREGENERATIVE DESIGN: Harmonizing human activities with life on our planetame

The mark of human activity on the planet and its living systems is visible at every scale and in every system. Green building and sustainable design strategies aim to reduce the impact of what we build and strive to preserve livable places for future generations. What if, rather than merely reducing impact, we designed our built environment to generate resources and co-evolve as part of a holistic living system? In this course we will explore regenerative design as a co-evolutionary framework that draws from nature, cultural and social practices, and emerging technologies to support a diverse, rich, and thriving living system. The seminar will include a field trip to a Living Building in New Haven to explore this approach in action.
