I Love a Mystery

The mystery novel commands large and loyal audiences. We will explore the origins of the genre and engage five exemplary authors and their respective creations: Maigret in Paris, DeKok in Amsterdam, Morse in Oxford, (Lord Peter) Wimsey in London, and Brunetti in Venice. Each of our leading investigators has a distinct personality and a investigative style that is at once both personal and reflective of the cultural milieu in their respective communities. Having read the five mysteries, we will come together prepared for a lively discussion; perhaps, even, for the discovery of some intrinsic sleuthing instincts.
