Due Process of Law: Interpreting the 14th Amendment

Large_Law.jpg

Americans are proud of their rights but have always disagreed as to what they are and where they originate. Some rights, like that of a jury trial, are granted explicitly by the Constitution, but some are not, even though many believe nonetheless that they are protected. This course will trace the post-Civil-War history of the 14th Amendment in American law, with special attention to the controversial right to privacy at stake in Roe and Dobbs.
