We set aside a Saturday every fall since 2004 to celebrate the harvest at Wesleyan's Long Lane Farm. Long Lane Farm is an organic student-run farm that supplies high quality organic food to local residents of the Middletown area as well as to food pantries and soup kitchens. The Pumpkin festival provides an opportunity for learning about local organic farming, the politics of food and a chance just to enjoy an afternoon on the farm with a bake sale, organic produce, locally produced honey, face and pumpkin painting, music by local bands and of course the pumpkins. The Pumpkin Festival is preceded by a keynote address, usually on the Thursday or Friday nights before the festival itself.
This event is free and open to the public.
