Preparing for Finals...and for Tournaments

What a weekend for Wesleyan athletics! Both men’s and women’s lacrosse teams notched victories in their NCAA games. The guys were playing a tough Williams team, and the Ephs refused to back down after an early Cardinals lead. But Wes stayed strong, and the team is moving along in the tournament next week. Meanwhile, the women’s lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead in its game against Cortland, and it just kept adding to its lead while the defense was all but impregnable.

Having already won the NESCAC title, the women’s tennis team won another close match against Amherst College. The Mammoths were at home, but the Wes squad overcame an early deficit to take the match and move onto the Elite Eight section of the tournament next week in Tennessee.

The men’s crew team continued its winning ways, capturing the NESCAC Championship and earning the right to race in the national tournament next week. The competition for crew supremacy is intense in New England, and the Wesleyan team was up to the task.

All these student athletes are preparing for finals even as they also prepare for national competitions. Perhaps the best example of this is Vicious Circles, our national champion frisbee team. The women head to the Midwest to defend their title with skillful exuberance.

Good luck with practice, with finals and with the competitions to come!
