The College of Design and Engineering Studies brings creativity and technical exploration to life in hands-on learning spaces across campus. From labs equipped for fabrication and prototyping to studios built for collaboration, these facilities give students the tools to design, build, and experiment across disciplines.

At the heart of CoDES is the belief that learning happens through doing — through designing, testing, and refining ideas. Our facilities support this philosophy, offering students access to advanced tools, technologies, and collaborative environments that bridge art, engineering, and design. Whether you’re building a prototype, experimenting with materials, or gathering for critique, CoDES spaces are designed to foster interdisciplinary connection and creative exploration.

IDEAS Lab

A state-of-the-art makerspace for design and engineering — featuring 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters, and electronics stations.

Textiles Hub

A dedicated space for textile experimentation, CNC knitting, and soft materials research.
Faculty Lab - Elizabeth Davidson-Chang Arm

Faculty Labs

Faculty-led research spaces where technology, art, and science intersect — open to student collaboration and projects.

Digital Design Studio

The Digital Design Studio is a multipurpose space supporting digital art production across a variety of courses. Students have access to digital fabrication tools like laser cutters and 3D printers, as well as a computer lab equipped with various printers and scanners. The DDS Technician and a team of student monitors manage the space. The DDS facilitates the design and execution of student work while fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all.
