Events
Wesleyan's Government Department events bring together students, faculty, and the broader community to explore ideas, connect over conversation, and share insights, whether it’s over pizza, in a faculty panel, or at a thought-provoking university-wide initiative.
Pizza with a Professor
Twice each semester, faculty invite you to join them—over lunch—to get to know their research, teaching interests, and their path to academia in an informal setting. It’s a relaxed, conversation-based way to build connections outside the classroom.
Panel Discussions and Guest Speakers
Each semester, the department hosts a Faculty Panel on a pressing political issue—domestic or international, chosen with input from the Government Majors Committee. These panels create a space for faculty members to share insights, spark dialogue, and connect with students on the issues shaping our world. Recent topics have included:

Political Theory Socials and Roundtables
Hosted in an intimate and thoughtful format, these roundtables are hosted by the Political Theory Faculty and bring together majors, prospective majors, and curious non-majors for conversation and community around key topics in political theory.
As part of the Democracy in Action initiative held in February 2024, Associate Professor of Government Logan Dancey led a dynamic media literacy workshop aimed at teaching students, faculty, and community members how to fact-check claims, assess source credibility, and critically evaluate political media.
