Basak Kus


Basak Kus's academic interests include history of political economic thought; political constructions of neoliberalism; financialization; politics of inequality; regulatory politics and construction of risk; economic crises and policy reform, and law.

Professor Kus obtained her PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining Wesleyan in 2012, she held postdoctoral appointments at Princeton’s Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance, and Yale’s MacMillan Center for International Studies. Between 2010 and 2012 she lived in Ireland, and taught political economy, sociology of markets, public policy, and research methods at the University College in Dublin.
