Erika Franklin Fowler

 

Erika Franklin Fowler directs the Wesleyan Media Project, which tracks and analyzes political advertising in real-time during elections. She specializes in large-scale analyses of political communication—campaign advertising and local media, in particular—and her work has been cited in hundreds of leading news outlets. Fowler also conducts research on the politics of health policy including the uproar over school mandates regarding the HPV vaccine, recommendations surrounding mammography screening, the ongoing debates over the Affordable Care Act and now COVID-19. She also serves on the ABC News Election Night Decision Desk and has professional experience conducting focus groups and survey research. At Wesleyan, Fowler teaches courses in American politics, media and politics, public opinion, and empirical methods along with lab classes engaged in human and computational research with the Wesleyan Media Project.
