Jaymee Ngernwichit

Jaymee Ngernwichit is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Costume Design and an Interdisiplinary Costume/Projection/Scenic designer from Los Angeles, CA. Jaymee desires to viscerally move people through gut-grabbing, layered, interdisciplinary, and witty designs. She believes that if doctors study the pathology of the human body, theatre artists and storytellers study the pathology of the human psyche and their redemption. To her, design is poetry that expresses and evokes, illustrates and illuminates the human journey.

Jaymee holds an M.F.A. in Costume/Projection/Scenic design and B.A.s in Communication and Design for Theatre & Film Production from the University of California, San Diego. Most notably, Jaymee was the costume designer on a bold, experimental opera production of 'War of the Worlds' at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and her collaborators included lauded actress Sigourney Weaver and MacArthur Genius Fellow director Yuval Sharon. She has had the pleasure of working as an associate costume designer for Obie award-winning production designer David I. Reynoso ('Sleep No More', Punchdrunk, etc.) on his grant project, 'Waking La Llorona': an interactive, multi-sensory, one-on-one interaction with performers. Together, the individual and actor resuscitates and brings to question the Mexican folktales of La Llorona & La Malinche. Jaymee has also worked with Qualcomm & Disney Parks Live Entertainment as an invited guest designer/artist, as an Eligibility Worker for The Department of Public Social Services in Compton, CA, and as a Production Designer/Art Director/ Production Designer for Independent film in L.A.
