A senior capstone project by Ella Larsen ’20, …an ode (pronounced: one beat, two beat, three beat /ən oʊd/) is a one-woman show based on interviews with women about their experiences with menstruation and menopause. The title puns on periods (surprise, surprise) but also attempts to highlight the silence surrounding this topic, suggesting instead a more open dialogue. … an ode is an offering of sorts, an attempt to destigmatize, to bring humor, light, and clarity to a subject so often shrouded in shame. … an ode works to celebrate cycles and champion changes. … an ode is inclusive, not exclusive. … an ode understands periods and menopause as touching everyone, directly or indirectly.

Additional shows were planned, but the April event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ella Larsen shared a video of selections from …an ode in June 2020 on YouTube. Please note: this video contains mature content that may not be suitable for all audiences.
