Music at The Russell House: Carolyn Halsted

As part of the Music at The Russell House series at the Center for the Arts, WESU Middletown 88.1FM will broadcast a virtual concert by Wesleyan University Piano Instructor Carolyn Halsted featuring her own solo piano music.

Each program will be available to stream from WESU's show archives for two weeks following the broadcast.

​Works to include "Quintessence," "Septessence," "Wondering," "Earth Dance," "Brightly Shine the Stars," "The Ground Doth Sing," "Lullaby," and "Labyrinth: Outward."

Carolyn Halsted is a very dedicated piano teacher both at Wesleyan University and privately, and has composed numerous piano, vocal, and choral works. She also enjoys playing for ballet classes at Wesleyan when there isn't a pandemic. She performs frequently as soloist and collaborative artist, playing with members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, CONCORA, and Wesleyan faculty. She accompanied students and faculty at Central Connecticut State University for many years, and has served as music director, organist, or guest musician in numerous Connecticut parishes. She holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Music History and Piano Performance) and Wesleyan University (World Music, especially South Indian music and piano).

Carolyn Halsted previously performed on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 3pm in The Russell House, when she was joined by the Hartford Symphony Orchestra's Assistant Concertmaster and violinist Karin Fagerburg and Principal Cellist Jeffrey Krieger to perform works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Jean-Baptiste Loeillet.
