In honor of their first performance at Wesleyan in 2018, Movement of the People Dance Company’s Tyrone Bevans, Brittany Grier, and Assistant Professor of the Practice in Dance and African American Studies Joya Powell share an afternoon in embodied movement discussions of their repertory work Hair Ties. Participants will learn how MOPDC developed choreographic motifs through the art of storytelling, create their own movement phrases, and explore a short excerpt of the work.
Bring your own headwrap or scarf. There will be some available.
