Dear Parents and Families of the Class of 2028,

Hello from Middletown, CT! The weather has finally changed, and the days here at Wesleyan grow shorter and cooler. As we move through November, the sophomore year proves to be an exciting time. Your students have spent time exploring academic majors that interest them and ways of thinking they are passionate about. Now it is time for them to translate that into a major!

Although for some selecting a major may seem like a daunting task, I assure you Wesleyan is here to support your students. Over the semester, they have received a plethora of information about the major selection process, alerts about academic “Open Houses,” and available resources to assist them like the Gordon Career Center. All information is sent through email and posted to the Class of 2028 blog. Please encourage your student(s) to read their emails to ensure they are meeting important deadlines. Also encourage them to set up meeting with their faculty advisors to discuss pre-registration for the spring and to talk to departments about their requirements. I am also available to meet with them to talk through the selection process.

Hopefully, your student(s) may have mentioned their interest in studying abroad during their junior year! If they are interested, now is the time to start speaking with our Study Abroad office, as some applications are due in early February. More information about the various programs and deadlines can be found on the Study Abroad website.

Finally…important dates! The last day of classes is December 12, followed by reading period from December 13 through December 16. Final exams run from December 16 through 20, and housing closes for the fall semester on Sunday, December 21 at 12 p.m. (EST). For the spring semester, housing reopens for all students on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 10 a.m. (EST). Students who need to remain on campus during the break must apply by Monday, November 17, 2025. Housing is not guaranteed. For information, see the ResLife website.

Please encourage your student(s) to reach out if they have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

William M. Bisese, Ed.D.
