Dear Families of Students in the Class of 2027,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you as the parents of Wesleyan’s newest senior class. It seems like just yesterday that they were arriving on campus for the first time, so it is hard to believe – yet so exciting – that it is time to look ahead to graduation. This fall marks an important time for members of the class of 2027. Many seniors will start working on a thesis, project, or capstone experience. Others may explore new activities that they’ve always wanted to try and still others will visit the Career Resource Center to get assistance with their resumes and begin making plans for after graduation.
This is the time when students begin to think about where they are in terms of fulfilling the degree requirements, which are:
- 32.00 useable credits
- 16.00 Wesleyan credits
- Semesters in residence (which can include one semester of study abroad):
- For students who entered Wesleyan during their first year: At least 6 semesters in residence are required.
- For students who transferred as first-semester sophomore transfers: At least 5 semesters in residence are required.
- Completion of a major
- GPA over 74.00
This is a good moment to ask what courses your student is considering for the fall term or how they are feeling as they look ahead to life post-Wes. Thinking about these important life questions ahead of time can add a different level of enjoyment to the senior year.
I hope that you will be able to come to campus to join us for Homecoming/Family Weekend (October 16 – 18) and to enjoy the many different activities offered over those three days. I will be available on Saturday, October 17 if you’d like to come by and say hello. In closing, please encourage your student to be in touch with me with any questions or concerns.
