    The executive assistant to the president provides operational and administrative support to the president. In addition to managing the president’s calendar and correspondence, the executive assistant staffs the Governance Committee of the Board of Trustees and works closely with the chair of the Board of Trustees, the president, and the president’s cabinet to plan and facilitate Board of Trustee meetings.

    Biography
    Prior to joining Wesleyan and the president’s office in 2012, Heather Brooke worked for the Yale-China Association, BIC, and White Mountains Re. She began her college education at the University of Connecticut at Storrs and recently returned to her studies at Wesleyan through the Graduate Liberal Studies program.

    The chief of staff works with the president on a daily basis, preparing briefing materials, prioritizing matters that require the president's attention, and advising on a wide variety of issues. The chief of staff also works closely with members of the Cabinet as well as faculty, staff, and student leadership to montior and guide progress on university objectives.

    Biography
    David Chearo came to Wesleyan and the president's office from the University of Chicago in 2018. While at the University of Chicago, he served in various roles, including as director of a social science research center, a resident head in undergraduate housing, and most recently as an associate vice president in the office of the president. David has also served in the U.S. Marine Corps, earned a BA in international studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an MA in the social sciences from the University of Chicago.

    The assistant to the president provides administrative support to the president and chief of staff including organizing meetings and preparing office correspondence. The assistant coordinates logistics for all president's office events including Board of Trustees meetings. 

    Biography
    Lisa LaPlant joined the president's office in 2008 after working in the registrar's office for 12 years. Prior to beginning her career at Wesleyan, she worked at Weekly Reader Corporation for seven years. Lisa graduated from Middlesex Community College in 1989 with an associate's degree in business administration, legal.

    The university editor serves as a resource to the president and senior staff in editing and preparing documents and correspondence as well as advising on issues of strategic importance.

    Biography
    Charles Salas received his BA from UC Berkeley, MA from Wesleyan (history), and PhD in history from the Claremont Graduate University. An intellectual historian with a focus on the cultural and political legacies of the classical period, he has published in a wide variety of areas, including precalculus mathematics, the history of science, the philosophy of history, cultural history, historiography, and the history of art. Prior coming to Wesleyan, he worked at the Getty in Los Angeles where he was head of research and education at the Getty Research Institute.

    Shannon Skubel joined the president’s office at Wesleyan in 2016. She earned an office and legal administrative associate’s degree in 2009.
