Subtitling and Captioning

Subtitling activities are a useful way for students to strengthen their translation and interpretation skills while exploring the cultural dimension of the clips or films they are working on. They provide for a variety of assignments, ranging from individual work on the subtitling of a short clip or scene to group work on the production of subtitles for an entire movie. The resulting outcome can also contribute to the larger goal of making subtitled materials available to a larger audience.
