Hosted Programs and Curricular Initiatives

The Fries Center for Global Studies is dedicated to supporting every student in their language study! If there’s a language you would like to study that isn’t available through one of Wesleyan’s language departments, there are several other options. Interested students can use Mango Languages software to earn a ¼ credit, design a ½ credit supervised independent language study through the SILP program, or take a small-group, ½ credit course. More information can be found under "Alternative Language Study Options."

If you’re looking for new ways to engage with a language that might already be offered at Wesleyan, the Fries Center for Global Studies offers CLAC (Cultures and Languages Across the Curriculum) classes that are great options to explore new subjects through the medium of another language. CLAC classes can be taken for either a 0.5 or 0.25 credit, and are open to a variety of levels! To learn more, visit the CLAC page.
