About the ISS Portal
The International Student and Scholar (ISS) Portal connects F-1 visa students with OISA and allows them to submit the requests, information, and documents required to maintain their F-1 status. The ISS Portal will be used throughout your time at Wes, from requesting your initial Form I-20 through post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) and OPT STEM Extension.
How to Log In
To access the ISS Portal, click on the red LOG-IN TO ISS PORTAL button on the OISA homepage or the ISS Portal link in the navigation menu of the OISA site. Log in to your ISS Portal account by clicking on LOGIN at the top right corner of the page. Use your Wesleyan credentials to log in.

Important Sections of Your ISS Portal
User Home
Once logged in, click on the gray house icon located at the left side of the black navigation bar. Select User from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected your User Home Page.
In this section, you will find the Records section, which will show you the Requests that you are in the process of completing or that you have submitted. Your Profile is also located on this page, as well as the Messages received from OISA.
Site Home
Once logged in, click on the gray house icon located at the left side of the black navigation bar. Select Site Home from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected to the ISS Portal main page.
The menu on the left side of the page will direct you to information for Prospective, New, and Current Students, as well as those who have graduated Wesleyan. One of the most frequently used options on this menu is the F-1 Student Requests tab where students submit requests to be processed by OISA.
How to Access Your I-20 & Other Immigration Documents
To access your I-20 or other immigration documents uploaded to the ISS Portal for you by OISA staff, please follow these steps:
- Step 1: Log in to the ISS Portal using your Wesleyan University credentials (Wesleyan email address and password).
- Step 2: Click on the gray house icon located on the left side of the black navigation bar. Select "User" from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected to your User Home Page.
- Step 3: On your User Home Page, you will see a Records category listing all requests you have submitted in the ISS Portal. Click on the request associated with your new I-20 or other immigration document to access it and print a copy.
How to Edit Your Profile
Click on the User drop-down on the black navigation bar and then select My Home to be redirected to your User Home Page. On the right side of the page you will see your Profile box. Click on Edit Profile to continue.
Profile
Please take a few minutes to provide the requested information. You may also upload a ID Photo and complete your Bio. When you are finished, click the Update section at the bottom of the page.
Information
Next, click on the Information button, next to the Profile button, near the top of the page. Please fill in any information requested. Sections grayed out cannot be edited.
Please provide or update the following information, if it is not already present:
- Student Preferred Name
- City of Birth
- Non-US Phone Country Code
- First Name Pronunciation Guide (upload an audio file)
- Last Name Pronunciation Guide (upload an audio file)
- Passport Expiration Date
- Visa Expiration Date
- How many entries are allowed on your visa?
- Does your visa have any annotations?
- Please list any annotations stated on your visa
How to Submit a Request
Once logged in, click on the gray house icon located at the left side of the black navigation bar. Select Site Home from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected to the ISS Portal main page.
Select F-1 Student Requests from the menu on the left side of the page, then click on the desired request from the menu choices on the next page. You will then be asked to select the term that the request is for.
Make sure to carefully review the Announcements and Instructions sections on the page that you are redirected to.
In order to provide OISA with the information needed to process your request, you will need to complete the following sections and requests, which will vary depending on your type of request:
Attached Documents: You will be asked to attach a scans of important required documents and upload them in this section.
Signature Documents: This section will ask you to review and digitally sign documents with important information that indicate your understanding. Please be aware that these are legal documents. Please contact OISA if you have any questions before clicking the buttons to digitally sign these documents.
Assessments: In this section, you will take a quiz to show that you understand how to maintain status as it applies to the request.
Recommendations: Certain requests will ask you to submit the first name, last name and email address (required) and phone number (optional) of recommenders to complete the request. Clicking the “Add User” button will have your recommendation request emailed to this recommender, so that they can provide important information to help complete your request.
Questionnaires: Please complete each of the questionnaires in this section. If the questionnaire does not apply to you, respond by selecting “no.” Make sure to start at the top of the list and complete all questionnaires.
When you have completed each section of the request, click the Submit button at the top of the page.
If you start a request in the ISS Portal but are unable to complete it, you may return to this request at a later time. Do not start a new one. To return to an existing request, please go to your User Home Page.
